the weather has been seriously unpredictable over the last few weeks. read the papers about the usa and malaysia (latest: the phillipines). at the very moment when some of us are wondering what to have for dinner, there are thousands of hungry children and parents who have lost their children who are homeless. i'm beginning to suspect that terms like "hungry children", "the homeless", etc. are becoming neutral words to people. the degree of the impact it was supposed to give people has been greatly reduced. i guess, people are just accepting this as part of their lives. seriously, the apathetic attitude that people portray irks me sometimes. i'm not a philantrophist. i do not have that capability. but honestly, the least people could do is to feel contented with what they have and not desire for useless luxuries and seeing them as 'needs' instead of 'wants'. i do not deny that the desire for greater excellence is one of the main driving force of humans, but instead of desiring for the betterment of ourselves, why dont we actually think about how we can help people around us who really need that help.
