just watched Clerks 2. it's one of those stupid movies that you laugh over and then feel nothing much after the whole thing. haha. the front part was hilarious and i think it's R21 in singapore because of the inter-species erotica (aka beastiality) part. and not to forget the whole racism and religion discrimination act. if you hate school, life and the society, you will most probably like this movie.

Watched Children Of Men earlier this morning. great movie as well. the ending was sad, but most good movies actuallly have sad endings. Well, i do not suffer from sadism full-time, but i'm sure in general, all of us secretly wants to feel pain and sad. Haha. some scenes are disturbing in this movie though.

Haven't finished watching Lady In The Water yet. =X so i really cant comment much. it's 10pm already and maybe i should head to bed earlier tonight.

went to bed at 10.15pm last night, but i didnt sleep until at least 12.15pm. i'm taking longer and longer to fall asleep. when i go for NS in a few months i'm going to suffer if i dont sleep almost immediately. woke up at 8am this morning. i usually sleep for more than 10 hours during my weekends. haha. watched the first 5-7mins of The Prestige at least 4 times today. i can almost memorize it already. should i watch the Children of Men now, or should i not. I cant even remember what was the last movie i watched with someone. was it lovewrecked? =/ i think it is. now, that's months ago. haha.
let the sun shine today.

Haha. here are some picture updates since i have nothing to do until like an hr more before i head out to class. photos from yesterday and some other days that i cant quite remember. met fahizul at mcd on sunday coz my family was taking too darn long to decide where to go for dinner? there are only 3 people that i know who are willing to eat mcd. Biyang (damn i know you love it), Fahizul and Raphael. hahaha.

had dinner with ben last night since it was his off day. haha, that poor boy seems to be working everyday but at least he's happy working (so am i). had dinner at my favourite jap restaurant and he was disturbing the waitress as usual. i always remember the day that he disturbed the waitress in pizza hut when we had some class lunch. haha going out with ben means i'll just jabbed in the stomach, lots and lots of laughter and more nonsense. hanged out til we got chased out by security. haha.
thanks for freaking me out too.
jer is coming out tomorrow i believe, and i think his cell's battery is flat and queueing up for the
burning crusade the other day just reminded me of him. haha. stupid dungeon. let me show you a picture. that was the queue girl and i was in. haha. jer wasnt very happy that i told him about the expansion coz he was still suffering in camp. haha.
i wanna hang out til late.
i wanna lie down and stare into emptyness.

complete gender equality? i dont think shit like that is going to happen this century. please do not take me to court because everything i'm writing in this entire post is based entirely on my very own thinking and feelings and it does not depict the current state of equality the state is in. i was reading some articles on the BBC News website and i stumbled across this article that provided pictures to the new signs in certain part of europe. for instance, the fire exit sign is no longer the bald symmetrical man but a woman in boots (probably leather) and hair flying to the back. the usual
suggestive sign with the mum attending to her baby has now changed to a man attending to his baby. yeah sure, as if these signs are going to closen the equality gap.
here are some of my reasons why i think gender equality can never exist in this century.
#1 National Servicethis issue has been up for debate for a significant duration of time but a conclusion (or at least, a favourable conclusion) has not been reached. until the day when women are dressed in no.4 (for women that do not know what that is, it's basically the green camou prints that some of you swoon over), going through the same Standard Obstacle Course (just for the women again, it is the 'impossible' course to go through because of the heights, mud, heat, insects, sand, ropes, etc.), eat (the super fare from SFI) and get the same amount of punishment, i will not agree that complete gender equality exists. Well, since the females do not even have to go for NS now, i believe it will take another millennium before they start to eat bugs (well, not literally).
#2 Dressing/Uniform/Make UpI believe many of us (guys) have been told to cut our hair once the back touches or collar, or when our fringe touches our eyebrow (my previous teacher told us to either cut our fringe or shave our eyebrow), or even when our sideburn is long, etc. At an older age, we are being told that we are not allowed to keep any facial hair because it does not reflect well on the school/institute/college we are in. Why then are girls allowed to keep really really long hair (trust me, i have a primary school friend whose hair touched her ass.), keep long sideburns, have their fringe covering their eyes and ditto sadako? Also, if 10 students (5 boys, 5 girls) dyed their hair and went to school, at the end of the day, i can be sure that all 5 boys have been caught and only 1 or 2 girls will be caught. i'm not denying the fact that perhaps they can cover up well (by distracting the teachers with their screams at one side, and the coloured hair girl run out of sight on the other), but still, when i was in my jc schooling days, i've seen girls with almost golden coloured hair and their civic tutors said nothing about it. just to add on, they seem to be more capable in convincing their CTs that the hair colour is natural.
As much as i'm not a piercing fetishist, why is it that girls can wear one stud (one is just for simplification purpose, you and i both know that one hardly exists) on each side of the ear, and yet guys can not even put a twig through OUR OWN ears.
Also, even though i am not supportive of the whole folding the sleeves
phenomenon, i do not understand why do teachers ask the boy "are you a girl" when he folds his sleeves. well, i would have asked the same thing, but why the discrimination. (i cant answer my own question in case you havent realised.)
#3 Time (Oh, abundance!)Guys are given 10minutes to bathe and girls are given 30minutes (some take more than a hour just to bathe. i wonder if they have more surface area to cover). Girls are given an hour to change, do makeup, paint their nails (?), etc. Guys are given 5 minutes to wax their hair (for the considerably more metro ones), to slap on facial products (for the poor acne sufferers like me and also the more metro ones) and of course to pick a tshirt to go with that same pair of jeans.
Okay, i'm in desperate need for lunch now so, this post has serve its purpose in entertaining me (and i hope you too) for the past 20minutes. haha. Maybe i'll add on later. Most probably not. I do not want to wage a gender war here. Well, not this century anyway.

just finished checking a huge pile of time cards from the workers. and i was designing the envelope of the chinese new year cards for the company. haha =) i'm a chinese new year fetishist. minus the noisy chinese new year songs, the crowds, the 'family' gatherings, the noise, etc. So what's left is just the money and the smell of the chinese new year cards. =) i have no idea if the smell actually come from the dye that is used to make the cards red, or did they deliberately inject the smell into the card and the red packets. haha. i believe it's the former but correct me if i'm wrong. i cant believe february is coming and i've not shed a single kg. i better start doing something significant soon. haha it's not like i havent been working out. i've gone to the gym, the pool and also the running track. but the amount of food i eat after that doubles up the amount of calories i lose during those workouts. hahah. and i dont even know why is it funny. okay here comes another stack of time cards. byebye people.

just got back from lunch. i slept within 30mins last night. haha still cant get to sleep in 10mins. i think there's something wrong with me. and the last time i told fahizul that. he told me something must be bothering me at night. well, he meant my thoughts, but i thought otherwise so i got freaked out for a split second. haha. the weekends are coming. =) cant wait for it. i want to sleep in late until 11am and wake up for brunch, if there's anything to eat. come saturday. come sunday.
4 more hrs before i knock off. was talking to ben last night and from what he told me, i think he can finally put on some weight. haha. okay back to work now. enjoy the weekends.

the weather has been seriously unpredictable over the last few weeks. read the papers about the usa and malaysia (latest: the phillipines). at the very moment when some of us are wondering what to have for dinner, there are thousands of hungry children and parents who have lost their children who are homeless. i'm beginning to suspect that terms like "hungry children", "the homeless", etc. are becoming neutral words to people. the degree of the impact it was supposed to give people has been greatly reduced. i guess, people are just accepting this as part of their lives. seriously, the apathetic attitude that people portray irks me sometimes. i'm not a philantrophist. i do not have that capability. but honestly, the least people could do is to feel contented with what they have and not desire for useless luxuries and seeing them as 'needs' instead of 'wants'. i do not deny that the desire for greater excellence is one of the main driving force of humans, but instead of desiring for the betterment of ourselves, why dont we actually think about how we can help people around us who really
need that help.
perhaps this is the
ugly brave new world.

the ivory piano at dusk
the gentle waves upon the shore
the crimson coloured skies
the long hair flowing with the wind
the nostalgic backview
the empty contentment.
life is too beautiful to be true.
it was drizzling again. the rain, they fall so softly during a drizzle. they come and go and sometimes, you dont even notice them until you stare out of your window. there's no roaring to signal their entrance. it comes and go, with time.

Even though the rain has already subsided, i know it's back. It's back to flood our streets and make our shoes and towels wet. I spent 1hr30mins on the expressway today. Insane if you ask me. My computer at home is dead again and i dont think i intend to fix it anytime soon. If you need to contact me, do it via phone coz that's the only thing i can access. If you want to use the email (or other outlets that require a PC), please note that i will be only to check it during lunch hrs on weekdays (or early morning like now).
I want the weekends. I'm unbelievably sleepy.

somewhere along the way, my sister's bag became mine. just got home from a swim. didnt swim much today though. just stood at the edge of the pool to rot and enjoy the absence of
desperados. the water was cooling because there was barely anyone in the pool. that's how a pool should be. =) went out with girl 2 days back. the skies were amazing. =) perhaps, recently, the skies have been more pretty. i shall not elaborate on that. just see the following pictures and also, most importantly, open your eyes and look at the sky above and behind(yes i do mean behind) you.

see girl, my hands are more steady now. hahaha.
had amazing indian food last night with my parents. zzz. it has been such a long time since i last had a proper dinner with my parents. feels good. yesterday was a prettypretty day. the skies were just as beautiful as well. check out my previous post.

maybe it isnt safe yet. tried to use the com this morning and it restarted at least 6 times. alas, i got it to work, but i believe that once i get home again, it will not be working. damn com. i'm so sick of reinstalling everything. it takes 2hrs. and after work, i spend only like 4hrs at home before i go to bed, so really, 2hrs is significant. i wonder what is wrong. everything seems to be screwing up on me. See how technology screws up on me:
- My iPod's battery died
- My computer is addicted to restarting.
- My digital camera's zoom button has problems and it hangs the playback.
- My handphone is missing.
- My keyboard has sticky buttons (no, not literally. but they dont come up after pressing them)
Now let us estimate the cost of repairing them and getting my life back the way it used to be. $600+$2499+$800+$900+$200=$4999
that is the crazy amount i have to spend if i were to 'renew' each damaged item.
now let's calculate how much i'm actually going to spend.
- I'm not caring about the iPod. so explicit cost incurred = $0
- I'm not going to buy a new com and i'll still try to fork out 50% of my time at home to fix it. explicit cost incurred = $0
- Not going to fix/buy a new one right now, but i'm eyeing a DSLR if i am to go overseas next month. (estimated cost = $2499) currently, explicit cost incurred = $0
- I need a handphone. as much as i dont want to admit it. i'll probably spend $500 on this one. explicit cost that will be incurred = $500
- insignificant. cost = $0
Okay now let's calculate the implicit costs. hahah okay i'm just kidding. i do miss economics though i have a 80% chance of failing it in A Levels. =) whatever. that can wait til March. or end Feb. just so you havent realised, i just got back from lunch and i have 45 more minutes before my lunch break ends. i wonder how's fahizul's first day at work. i want to swim. and i want to run. but i want to run on the damned track and i dont wanna swim at pervert's haven (people know it as Yio Chu Kang Swimming Complex). and i hope my legs recover fully soon. i cant even go running like this.

as much as i hate to admit this, it really sucks not having a phone. it's really the same theory. a vegetarian that has never tasted meat will not crave for meat (generally). a stupid boy who misplaced his phone finds it hard to survive without a phone. the problem is, i dont know what phone to get. on one hand, i do not want to spend too much on a phone. for 2 obvious reasons.
1. I do not have that kind of cash.
2. I'll be going into NS in less than 100days.
There are more reasons but i'm going to stick with that 2 only. i saw the N93 and i immediately wanted it. But no, i shall not get it. Stupid people do things on impulse.
I miss getting messages from my friends and i dont like the idea of not being able to contact anybody. Okay, i really sound like a city boy who is already a slave of technology. I shall not deny that i am a slave of technology but hell, i'm breaking free, slowly. I shall not even mention i fixed my com last night. Hahah, so much for breaking free.
Just got back from lunch and i still have like.. 40minutes more. Seriously, who do people need an hour to lunch? You just need like.. 15minutes. My legs hurt. apparently i hurt them when i was chasing for the cab. though i didnt catch up with the (insert some vulgarities here) driver, i am amazed at how fast i can run. panicking has potential.
benben got me interested on a few books. hahah funny i know. firstly, the person who doesnt finish his books (aka Me) started to finish them. and now, the crazy comic boy is reading books now. BOOKS mind you. =) you see school underdevelop us. all the rules and regulations in school deter and destroy our interest to learn. haha. school begins again today. but hey, i'm not in school. i do not have school. =) when the results come however, hahaha. i dont wanna think.

i've never felt so tired in just 7hrs before. and it's not even for a good cause. it's due to shopping. =/ okay i got shirts/tshirts and most importantly, i've got 2 interesting reads (well, i havent read them but i think they will be.) let me blind-recommend the book.
THE END OF POVERTY - HOW WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN IN OUR LIFETIME by Jeffrey Sachs
THE UNDERCOVER ECONOMIST by Tim Harford.
i guess many of you would have read the latter book but please please read the first one too. Since i'm recommending books, i might as well recommend 2 books i just finished reading.
TALK TO THE SNAIL by STEPHEN CLARKE (and of course a year in the merde. duh.)
WHY DO MEN FALL ASLEEP AFTER SEX (it's easy to find. i'm too lazy to type in the two authors.)
After reading 2 light hearted books, i thought i should switch to something more serious. Girlgirl, arent you actually amazed i finished a book? well, 2 books to be exact. i'll pass FREAKONOMICS back to you after i read about poverty, which really is the more pressing problem. Say HELLO to an all new hobby. =) READING. i'm proud of myself. After being so oblivious to books around me, my job has actually encouraged me to read the news and the books. i love my job and i love my colleagues. i love my life.
being in town during the sale period sucks. benben was in town too, pity i didnt get to see him today. saw jenrine and xiaohui(okay i didnt physically see xiaohui, but jenrine told me she was there) at paragon working. =) jenrine said she saw YangLS too. like today. =/ thank god i missed her, or else, she'll psycho me again. the last time she talked to me, she asked me about my personal problems. psychotic i tell you. like i needed counselling. hahah.
it's 2007 and i'll be entering NS this year. i cant wait actually, minus the fact that i have to train up right now and i really need some discipline to stick to what i've planned. haha. okay i'm going back to the books right after i've showered. looking forward to tomorrow. =) it's going to be a fun fun day again. =)
